During high school spring break at Bishop Sullivan some of the kids went to look at colleges for school or for sports. Getting into a college is very important to most of the kids who attend Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School.  I know it means a lot to me because going to college will give me and my family a better life.  What makes BSCHS so special is it is important for every student, but each student may have a different reason for why they go to college.  For example, many students  go to a college because it runs in the family, just to better themselves and maybe it’s their why to help a family member that might be struggling.

No matter what the reason, many of these students visited the colleges that they might go to over spring break in March.  These students might not know what they want to major in, what career they would like to pursue, or what coach to play for, but after their visit some students may have a better idea about all of these questions, so let’s see who visited.

Junior Maddi Fink is really wanting to go to James Madison University.

“I interviewed with two professors for the Intelligence Analysis Program, that is my biggest interest. I am applying for CIA and FBI scholarships, which the program would benefit,” said Ms. Fink.

Is she happy to start to get to look at college? “OH YEAH!”

One of the top juniors students that attends Bishop Sullivan, Caroline Foley, visited one of the top colleges in the country, Duke University.  Not only are they one of the top basketball programs, but they also have one of the top business schools in the country. She must have a 4.17 GPA, a 2250 on the SAT, andDuke requires you to be at the top of your class,” according to prepscholar.com.  Those are only some things that it takes to even get into Duke. She went to another top school Vanderbilt University. They are another school that is up there with some of the best schools. Getting into that school is very hard, so therefore she is smart to even concenter  going to those schools.

One of the top students that attends Bishop Sullivan, sophomore Teradja Mitchell, is the #1 linebacker in the state of Virginia in the class of 2018. Now that is big! Mr. Mitchell visited some of the top football schools in the country such as Florida University, UNC and many more. Mr. Mitchell is up to 22 offers so far, so his spring break he went to colleges back to back. He is  a top football player and he is smart with a 3.7 GPA.

“I have been on honor roll ever since I started school,” said Mr. Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell seemed to like Florida State University best. “It’s a school I was interested in and wanted to learn more about. The weather and the coaches made me feel that they need me.”

Many of these student are happy to have visited the college that catches their eye. Many of these students worked hard to get this far and getting to college means a lot to these students. Going from high school to college is a big step. You have to know how to get to your classes on campus, so this is why many students take spring break visits to see how the campus is. It is going to be helpful to them to get to that next level even if it’s in football or in life, and most of all make sure the school is a good fit for you.
